Is it Easy to Make a Will?

Don t leave your beneficiaries with extra expense and hassle.
People who die without a valid will, or intestate, leave complications and costs to their families and often gift thousands of £’s to the Nation in what may be avoidable Inheritance Tax (IHT).

The Law Society says that anyone with assets and family or friends should make a will, irrespective of their age. It is particularly important if you are not married to your partner, because the law does not accord partners the same rights of inheritance as spouses.
Assets which are jointly owned by unmarried partners on a joint tenancy basis would still pass automatically to the surviving partner under the rules of survivorship. Under the current intestacy rules, an unmarried partner has no rights to property that were not jointly held (although the Law Commission has lately suggested to change this).

Getting a will is also critical if you have minors, as you can propose guardians to look after them.

It is critical to create a list of assets and debts and their approximate worth. Include your properties, investment, savings, insurance policies and pension.
In addition, think about individual legacies. Just informing a family member that an item will be his or hers one day could cause problems later.

You should obtain professional advice on IHT planning as part of writing your will. Simple steps could save the beneficiaries of more well-to-do householders thousands of £’s in taxation.

A vital factor of establishing a will is the appointment of executors to ensure that your will instructions are executed.

You should also review your will every five years or so and whenever your situation are changed by a important life event, such as wedding, divorce or a birth or death in the close family. Another example would be after a house buy or move.

Whoever constructs up your will, make sure at least 1 copy is kept safe or deposit 1 with a probate registry.

Getting Noticed at a Job Event

Standing out at a Job Faire can make a difference in your job hunt. Career Fairs are starting to pick up, and Dice is running some nice ones, called Targeted Job Fairs. At a SF Bay Area Job Faire in January, 10 companies as showing up, and a major job search company has 82 career fairs scheduled for 2010 across the States.

How do you stand out at a Career Fair? The rivalry can be noteworthy, but you can help yourself stand out from the bunch with early preparation. At AA-Careers, we have a straight-forward step-by-step process to prepare. Planning to go? Here’s how to prepare:

First, investigate the companies that are going and pick your targets. Use the internet to check out the companies that are there before you even decide to go. Go to their web sites and see if they have their job openings listed. Pick a small number to target, and get ready to spend an hour researching each one. It’s hard to do more than nine in a day, and three or four is a much more reasonable target. For each company, you want to know: key product lines, recent news, and executive names. Try to see if you know anyone at the target companies. You will end up with with a page or two of research for each company/job.

Second, if there are job postings on the web, read them to see what the company is looking for. Create a mapping of your accomplishments and skills to the demands of the job. Make the language match. If the hiring organization calls customers "clients", your resume should do the same thing. The achievements should be written in the style of the hiring organization.

Third, create a ‘brief sales pitch’ for each potential company/job combination. Write down a sixty second ‘thumbnail’ that you can repeat verbally depicting why you are a key candidate for that position. You’ll use this in your resume and when you meet the company at the job stall.

Fourth, modify your resume for each opportunity. The objective on your resume should exactly match the job you’re targeting. The executive summary should be a written form of your “mini sales pitch” for the job. Then choose the achievements and skills that most clearly match the job prerequisites. Especially at a Career Fair, the purpose of your resume is a sales tool for you – to get you on-site job interviews. It should be very easy to see that you’re a match based on your resume.

Fifth, practice your ‘mini-sales-pitch’. Collect your research and the resume for each spot - bring a couple of copies for each – and put each in a distinctly labeled folder. Keep them in a lightweight briefcase or folio.

Finally, dress and prepare as if you’re doing on-site interviews. Dress well and be properly groomed. Avoid strong cologne or perfume…use any cologne or perfume meagerly, if at all.

Remember to smile, and good hunting!

Get the Best of Both Worlds by Purchasing a Two in One Pushchair
Sunday November 08th 2009, 7:27 am

The word “pram” is a derivative of the word “perambulator”, which is essentially a carriage with a large chassis meant for newborns who spend most of their time sleeping.

Prams have high wheels and are parent facing. Pushchairs on the other hand are travel systems for toddlers, or children generally up to three years of age, in which they sit facing forward. However, you do not need to spend on buying a pram first and then a pushchair. You can opt for two-in-one travel systems, which combine the features of both a pram and a pushchair.

Two-in-one pushchairs should be purchased keeping your lifestyle in mind. If you are a daily walker or jogger, you should opt for a product that has good suspension on its wheels and a strong chassis. Whereas, if you are a regular commuter in trains or buses, you would require a product that is easily collapsible, lightweight and portable.

It is better to give a trial before making any purchase. Place your baby inside the pushchair and see if it is easy to push. Also check if it is easy to fold the pushchairs and measure the boot of your car and see if the model you are going to buy will fit into it.

If you are used to shopping online, then a quick search using the keywords pram pushchairs will yield a number of sites where you can find online catalogues of two-in-one prams and pushchairs, from which you can choose the model that will suit your needs.

Heighten your prospects of success at your job job interview by discovering what you must do when in front of the interview panel:

Firstly, ensure you are on time. First impressions count, and you can’t afford to turn up late. Make a plan of how you are going to get to the interview centre 10 to 15 minutes ahead of schedule. That way, you won’t be so nervous as you enter the job interview.

Dress suitably for the job interview. A key part of your image management is the way in which you dress yourself. You have to appear to be the most capable job interview candidate who has turned up that day.

Do not distract from the picture that you are trying to create. Do not forget to turn your mobile phone off and please dont go in with your sunglasses still on.

Be confident in your introduction. Use a firm hand grip when you shake the interviewer’s hand and announce your name with a smile on your face. As you find yourself smiling, you will notice that you feel better and appear more confident in the eyes of the job interviewer.

You shouldn’t stare at the interview panel member, but you should spend a fair amount of time looking the in the eye when you are talking. If you are faced with an job interview panel - then spend the majority of your time engaging the eye contact of your primary questioner, but glance at the others to acknowledge them too.

Use open body language, to have an empowering effect on the interview board. Be aware of how you behave and try to avoid any unfhelpful, non verbal messages. Sit up in your chair, but lean forward slightly. Keep your hands calm and not waving around or fiddling with your hair. Try to avoid habits such as repetitive, foot tapping or tongue clicking. do not think that you shouldn’t be worried - you will be. Just try to hide it.

Moving along without Bankruptcy in Waterford

Filed under: Credit Repair, Helpful Stuff, Your Finance Resources

Thousands of consumers across the nation are faced with overwhelming debt daily. A lot of these borrowers feel that filing for bankruptcy is the sole manageable alternative for getting out of debt. Luckily, debt settlement exists. It is a way of reducing your debt without totally ruining the debtor’s FICO.

Debt settlement is a different way of managing in reverse your debt and Fair Isaac problems. Debt negotiation involves negotiating a debt settlement with a creditor. Most settle their unsecured loans with a go-between like a debt advocate. This concept of debt settlement is an effective answer for debtors whose debt is deep. Whether the individual is incapable of making the minimum payments or they have gotten behind, debt negotiation can function just the same.

Regrettably, no resolution to debt is entirely devoid of potential downsides. Credit ratings may be damaged by a debt negotiation program irrespective of how the program is arranged. All the same, Bankruptcy will bang around an individual’s credit rating even more than debt arbitration. There is likewise the likelihood that lenders will continue to harass until the debts are resolved. The final possible drawback is that the creditor will bring legal action to collect the total amount of money owed.

California’s damaging debt arbitration effects are minimized due to the borrower favorable collection laws. There are a lot of individual rights in California that deal with past due unsecured debt. For example, if you would like to work out a debt negotiation program in California then lenders will be more willing to work with you than in another state where local laws privilege the bank’s collection rights.

Every state has laws requiring collectors to discontinue calling a credit card holder if the borrower sends out a Cease and Desist letter or a Power of Attorney letter which notifies the collecting company that another company is responsible for taking care of all creditor communications. California protects its consumers more by inhibiting the harassment of collecting bureaus including the primary creditor (the credit card issuer or loan company). The laws restraining and moderating what a debt collection firm can do will also restrain the nuisance abilities of first creditors.

On that point, there are wage and homestead protection laws in California that extend debtors complete protection. Earnings garnishment laws shield workers’ salary. This legal structure gives a credit issuer more of an incentive to settle . A number of collections might finish up in court indifferent to all of the protections in California. During the course of collecting past due debts, the charge card company keeps the power to bring a suit against a customer for the sum of money allegedly owed.

Compare Gas Prices
Saturday October 17th 2009, 5:35 pm
Filed under: Helpful Stuff, Lifestyle Infos, Shopping Portal

This may be a surprise when you compare gas prices, but the amount you pay may depend on the type of meter you have installed in your home.

Around six million people in the UK use a prepayment meter, which means they have to pay for electricity and gas upfront. While this can have some advantages (for example, no bills coming in), it often means that you will pay an above average rate for utilities.

Using a prepayment meter means you can easily keep track of the amount of gas you use. This will help you manage your budget more easily. If you have gone into arrears with your energy supplier, a prepayment meter can help you clear this.

The downside is that, if you compare gas prices, you will quickly see that prepayment meters have many disadvantages. The most obvious is the inconvenienceof having to make trips to the shop to top up your card or key. And if you don’t get topped up in time, your gas supply could be turned off until you top up.

Additionally, the best deals on the energy market are not available to people who pay their gas using a prepayment meter.

If you are on a prepayment meter, you may want to compare gas prices available on a conventional credit meter, to see if it could save you money.

You’ll be able to switch to a credit account if you have been debt free for at least three months.

Once you have a credit meter installed, you can compare the various gas suppliers’ tariffs, to make sure your provider is offering value for money.

The best way to do this is to use a price comparison site. Instead of contacting all your local suppliers to compare gas prices, all you have to do is answer a few easy questions.

Some suppliers enable you to switch online, through the comparison site. Consequently, you could begin saving money immediately.

Whether you opt to stay with a prepayment meter, or change to a standard meter, you may be able to cut your bills when you compare gas prices and switch supplier.
