A Magnificent Summer

What a exceptional summertime it has been. Last day we went on a mountain bike ride through the Sequoias. Everything about the trip was awesome except for the drive up there. I had my mtn bike on the back of the car and equipment all packed up the night before. I started the mountain bike ride up alone as I left early from the office. My meet up time was set for 8pm where I was to meet with my friends on the mountain since I didnt know where exactly the campsite would be. I had to make the timing just right otherwise I would not meet them. After that time, they were to expect that I got held up and would try again at the same spot at 10am the next day. This means if I was too late, I would end up sleeping in my car alone that night.

Turns out I made it through traffic and up the hill in time to unhook my bike, crack open a beer and mountain bike ride up and down a couple of little hills before dark and before my buddies would arrive. The air was crisp and I was excited to be away from the city. My Santa Cruz Heckler was in tip top shape and ready to tear up some rails and free riding, fresh out of the shop.

We began our ride the next morning, each if us carrying 40lb packs ensuring enough food and water to last at least 12hrs of long hard riding. The first hill was killer and was a rude awakening to a very long ride. We pedaled over 10 miles uphill, that took over 2hrs. Making it to the summit was amazing. I chugged nice clean water out of my stainless steel water bottle.

The rest of the day was spent busting tricks, hitting logs and enticing each other to go big. We half a few good breaks in between stopping to eat lunch and have a smoke at the three sisters, what an grand spot. The dirt was just right. Not too dry as to cause any dust and not too wet that our wheels would get stuck. It was nice to see just a bit of snow left on the ground in certain spots.

Throughout the year it is very obvious that Redlands is also a biking city. Several people put on their best biking outfits and can be seen zooming through the city in their color-coded uniforms. Everyone knows that they’re keeping themselves in shape and ready for the big event. There is also a website devoted to the race with photos and information from over the years. However, some of the site may look a little small town but make no mistake it is a worldwide-recognized event.

Perhaps someday their look will also encompass the appearance of a larger scale event by employing a firm for web design Redlands located or at least nearby. The documentation of the events is another great way that Redlands is promoting healthy and happy outdoor activities in its city. Redlands citizens are happy to join in the fun outside and mingle with their neighbors locally and worldwide.
